FAQ's

 How long is your waitlist?

It is hard to quantify the length of our waitlist as many factors and considerations are taken into account. Adding yourself to our waitlist means that when a spot opens in an age-appropriate classroom, we will call people on our waitlist offering them the spot first.

Does the waitlist fee secure a spot for my child by the time my family needs it?

No. We try to accommodate the schedule needed by your family to the best of our ability however there isn’t a guarantee that the availability will line up with your schedule.

How much of the day in taught in Spanish?

We encourage our teachers to speak to the children in Spanish as much and as often as possible.

What time does my child need to be at school?

We encourage our families to try to get their child to school by 9:00am at the latest as that is when the teachers start circle time. This is a time for the children to become prepared for the day ahead of them.

If you would like your child to eat breakfast at school, they need to arrive before 8:30am

What meals do you provide?

At My Second Home we provide:

  • a light breakfast of cereal with milk

  • morning snack

  • lunch (prepared fresh at our school)

  • afternoon snack

What is the difference between the Old Town location and the Waneka Location?

My Second Home has two locations in Lafayette. The schools are sister schools and follow the same play-based curriculum and Spanish Immersion model.

The biggest differences between the two sites are the ages accepted.

  • At MSH-Waneka (1321 West Baseline Road) children can be from 6 weeks- 6 years (no child after their 7th birthday)

We do not accept CCAP at this time.

Does my child need to be fully vaccinated?

All children at My Second Home must be fully vaccinated unless they have a medical exemption. We do not allow children who are missing vaccinations and have a personal belief exemption to attend our school.

My child has allergies, does your school accommodate for those?

We have children with allergies who attend our school and accommodate those allergies. We are a nut-free school but also avoid food with eggs when children have an egg allergy.

My family is vegetarian/gluten free/doesn’t eat specific foods (non-allergy related) do you accommodate meals for personal beliefs/diet?

We cannot accommodate for each families personal diet. Each month we send home a menu for your review if there is a meal that you do not want your child to eat please send them with an alternative meal.

Do you provide vacation days/if my family goes on vacation do I still need to pay tuition?

At My Second Home tuition is due even if your family is on vacation. We are a year-round school and only close on PAID holidays (bank holidays) and for a week between Christmas and New Year's day. We provide a list of our school closure dates during our tour so you know when we are closed.

Can my child make up days if they’ve missed due to sickness or travel?

We do not have a makeup policy here at My Second Home as our classrooms are typically at capacity each day.
